Q: How do I register?
A: There is a register button on the far right side of the top navigation bar. Clicking on that will take you to the registration page. The small print is a bunch of gibberish that it basically tells you to behave and don't use the discussion board for your porn library.

Hit the "I agree to all this nonsense" button and then fill out the registration form. For your "Golf Buddy Connection", enter whoever your buddy is in our network of players or how you heard about us. Once we activate your membership, you will receive an email that says you have been activated and you can go back to the site, login, and finish filling out your profile.

You must finish filling out your profile, in order to use the members' tools. Don't be afraid to put down your address, email and phone number. We promise not to share this information with anyone especially 3rd parties. The only members who will be able to see this info are the members that you allow to by adding them to your buddy list.
Q: How do I find foursome, post outing, or look for a last minute player?
A: The most important feature and what prompted us to build this site was the "Outings" feature. By clicking on "Outings" you can see a list of the posted Outings where players are looking for other players to fill foursomes, plan outings, etc.

If it is not an Outing you-yourself posted, there will be a button you can click on to request to play in that outing.

If you request to play, the player that posted the Outing will be notified and he can confirm you.Outings are generally filled when you see that number of players needed has reached zero, but you can always submit a request to play anyway -- in the case someone drops out. Requests are ordered by the time and date the request was submitted.

When you "Post an Outing", you can as be general or specific as you want about where and what time of day you are thinking of, as well as post special notes about the outing.

You won't always have a Tee time reserved before trying to get together your foursome. It is the player's responsibility to get in contact with all the other players and figure out the exact details. Be responsible about this so we don't have to add a "Rate Players" feature to this site. : )

When you are ready to post your outing you can specify whether this posting will be seen and is open to all MyGolfBuddies members.. Or just your "Buddy List".

If you choose everyone, an email will be sent to all members notifying them that an Outing has been posted.

If you choose just your buddies… only they will be able to view your outing on the "Outings Page".

When you post for just your Buddies -- this will also take you to a page that will have your buddy list and you will be able to check the players that you would like to notify.

Once you post an outing, you will be able to go back and edit that Outing's details by going to the "Outing's" page. If you were the player who posted the outing, then you will see a link to "Edit Outing". If you change the Outing details, you can choose to notify the confirmed players by clicking the checkbox "Notify Players"
Q: How does the Buddy List work?
A: If you go to the "Find Players" or "All Members" page, you will see a list of all of the players. You can sort and search for players by last name, first name or handicap.

You can click on the names and see players preferences. Though - only if the selected player is on your buddy list, will you be able to see his contact information. If they are not in your Buddy list, you will not be able to contact info, though you may send them a message using our website's message system. By clicking on "Send Message" you can use our message form to send a message to any member. This message will be sent to their "Mailbox" and they will get an alert from MyGolfBuddies.com that they have mail. If a member is in your buddy list, the email will be sent directly to them and they can reply directly back to you.

Back on the "All Members" page, the players will have a check mark next to their names if those players have already been sent a "Buddy" invite from you. If not, there will be an empty checkbox next to their names. You can simply click the checkboxes of all the players that you would like to invite to be on your Buddy List. Then the players you invited will be notified and they in return have the option to approve you as a personal buddy.

In order to manage your "Buddy Requests", you simply click on the appropriate TAB: (Pending, Approved, Declined or Banned) then click the appropriate radial buttons and hit "Update Request Status".
Q: Is My Contact Info kept Private?
A: Absolutely! We do not give or sell any of our members' info to anyone. Your information is safe with us. The only people that can see your contact info are the players that you have given permission to by adding them to your "Buddy List". All other members cannot see your contact info.
Q: Is MyGolfBuddies.com only for the Chicago Area?
A: You probably noticed that the course finder currently only has Chicago area and suburbs golf course information. The reason for this is that the site is new and the developer and most members live in the Chicago area.

If you are interested in using this kind of tool for your area and would like to use this tool to manage your golf circle -- please Contact Us and explain where you are located and we would be more than willing to expand our database and work your area into our programming schema. It is our ultimate goal to expand this application across the country.
Q: Who the hell is Abe Froman?
A: Abe Froman is the "Sausage King of Chicago". (from the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off")

Though you are probably referring to the trips pictured in the photo gallery. The Abe Fromen are a group that once a year travels to some great golf destination and plays a quota competition. This is not a MyGolfBuddies.com event, though Gregg Weinstein and Mike Composano (fellow MyBGolfBuddies.com members) put together and run this trip. It's an awesome time!
